Hi, I'm new here so sorry if I post in the wrong forum, but I am really worry and wanting to let some thoughts out before I explode or kill myself. Anyway, apparently I was caught cheating in my biol exam, because the TA saw me looking around too much. Although all the tests were in different forms so I wasn't even looking at the paper just the student's back. Now this is my second time at UGA (yes, to think I've learned my lesson. I won't make any excuses.)

I'm scared of getting suspended and worst expulsion. What should I do? Should I talk to the teacher? What to say? Sigh :(

You’ve cheated before and you ARE making excuses in your post. You need to own your problem and commit to fixing it. Other posters will probably have better insights into how exactly to be proactive about addressing the issue but I would seriously decide if you can commit to changing your behavior.

You’re an idiot. Seriously. I only say that because this is the second time. Hope you don’t have plans of going to medical school, graduate school, etc.

How smart it is to tell someone that he or she is an idiot when they have come on here to spill their guts to us and get some feedback? Especially when he or she has stated that they may want to commit suicide what is wrong with you people?

iamkealh you need to address this right away with whomever is responsible for dealing with cheating violations. Where you cheating the first time you were caught? What was the outcome of that? How did you know that the tests were random and that it was impossible to cheat?

If you knew it before the test? Then raise hell with them and tell them listen why would I cheat #1 when I was accused once before and #2 each student had a different test?

Be honest and see what happens.

Did you know the material? this is also important. if you know the material offer to retake the test to prove that cheating was not necessary.

Good luck to you and dont ever consider killing yourself.

Wait, so you weren’t actually cheating this time? I’m just making sure. Make your case to the TA/professor/disciplinary committee and hope for the best.

Lol, even if you are caught and you are cheating, when there’s not concrete evidence,
deny it
deny it
deny it!

Owning up to it would be a big mistake. I don’t think all of you would honestly own up to it if it meant you could be suspended. Unless, you are stupid, then don’t say “yes, I cheated” and then get kicked out of your college.
Lying is a skill that needs to be used in cases when you need to survive.

You need to tell them you know you were caught once before but that they should not suspect you this time and that you are innocent!!!
Be VERY firm and sincere in what you say, and do not change your story. Get your facts straight of what you will say.
Apologize for doing something that made it be mistaken like this, but vow that you were not cheating.

And, you need to stop looking around in the future if you make it out of this!!! No more cheating and anything that could be acting shady

sigh Although I’m somebody who’s rarely ever cheated, when you do something you shouldn’t be doing, you’ve GOT to a least do it right. I mean, damn. I’ve met too many people who’ve gotten caught cheating. You need to know the right place and right time to do it, but people are just NOT slick. lol

Anyways, like someone said, deny it to the end.

I don’t understand the harsh comments. The op is clearly remorseful and on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Everyone here ha"s made mistakes. Those attacking the op should really take a hard look at their own lives and try to figure out how they became such dispicable people. Obviously, it’s not ok to cheat but it sure beats kicking a man while they are down.
It also sounds like he/she wasn’t even cheating this time, but I could be wrong.
Personally, I think the best approach is to talk it out with the teacher and hear what they have to say.

If this fails, ask a trusted faculty member for advice.

Yes, there are so many unnecessary harsh comments to the OP. To the OP, I’m not exactly sure how I can help you because, quite frankly, I’ve never been caught cheating, and I’ve actually never cheated in college because I just study all the material like crazy before. If I were you, I would flat-out deny but make it convincing. Don’t be jittery and forceful by claiming you didn’t do it (because you didn’t actually do it, right?). Be calm, a little stern and firm. State what “happened” and stick to it. Do not give in if they try to make you admit it.

I’m not sure what will happen after that, but that’s my best advice for you if you don’t want to take on the punishment from the get-go. Also, after this mess, just don’t cheat…and if you’re going to, then be able to get away with it.
