I had to do it...

I had to remove JHU off my college list. I am an international applicant who requires almost a full ride but I guess JHU isn't rich enough to provide that. Adios JHU :(

Just so you know, the only private schools I have seen that offer need-blind admission to Internationals are Harvard, Yale and Princeton. In fact, Stanford's statement is almost equivalent to JHU's: "[Insert School] has a limited amount of financial aid for international students, and, in most cases, the need for aid will be a factor in the admission decision."

This was the case for Penn, Cornell, Columbia, Brown, Chicago, Northwestern among probably the rest of the Ivies and top colleges/universities. This extends to LACs. Not meeting all aid for international students is very common, and not exclusively a practice of JHU.

Make sure you know that the schools to which you are applying can actually meet your aid (which would be basically HYP). Just thought I'd let you know that is is normally the case. It seems that only HYP are the outliers.

If you are really a strong applicant, I'm sure the admissions office won't miss out a talent like you.

Regardless, you will never find out how much financial aid would be given to you if you do not apply to JHU.

I applied to many different schools such as Tufts, BC, BU, Duke, and etc... and recieve different financial aid packages too. BU, who is usually generous in their financial aid offerings gave me a half tuition scholarship compared to JHU which surprisingly gave me a Bloomberg scholarship which amounted to more!

Don't let premature assumptions remove a top-notch research university from your list.

I highly suggest you talk to the financial aid official from Hopkins to see whether or not you should consider given your financial situation first before you make any decision you might regret.

Phead, yeah but you're not an intl student. It's a really different story.

^ exactly :)

I'm rich and my family makes more than 100k per year. If I did not apply for financial aid based on the premature assumption that I would not get any financial aid, wouldn't I regret it cuz I got a considerable financial aid package that I would have never expected to get had I not applied.

Simple logic, your guaranteed to never find out how much you'll get if you don't seek it.

I want a full ride which JHU does not provide.

I want a full ride too, and I got into Hopkins and now I'm going to join ROTC to get a full ride.

^ Are you a US Citizen? I'm not so ROTC is out of question.
