hey everyone, i caught this cold last thursday and it hasn’t been doing me any favors. i can go to school, but my mind is not nearly as sharp, and i did a “circuit” workout (pushups, pullups and situps) yesterday, and my body was a lot more tired than normal.

i need to get back into running because that is where i am weakest and there are only 23 days left. should i take it easy and wait for my cold to completely dissapate? or should it run a little while i’m sick, but just bring a lot of tissues ;)?

I suggest that you run, even though you have a cold. Last week I had a cold and I still ran, just not as far as I usually run. Also, during BCT, you will probably have to run even if you have a little cold. You should get used to pushing yourself farther than what you think you are capable of. Good luck and feel better!

I got a cold at a tennis tournament once and decided to play with it, I worked too hard and the cold got much worse and it took me over a month to get better. If you feel really sick while your running, quit. It is more important that you are healthy on I-day because if you are sick you won't really be in good shape and all your work really won't help that much. I recommend running but only enough to stay in decent shape, nothing too strenuous. I am just coming off a pretty nasty bug that put me in bed for a week and am having trouble getting back in shape too. But good luck and feel better, oh and sorry for the long post, I was having trouble saying what I wanted to say.

no worries about long answers, i enjoy reading 'em. but anyways, i think i might just run for a mile, maybe two tomorrow when i feel a bit better.

That's a good idea, but like I said, if you feel sick and weak, or are coughing at all, I would quit. Running/working out with a cold can cause the common cold to go deep into your lungs and cause lots of problems, but it will be self limiting (my dad's a doctor)
