I Have Become OBSESSED.

Hello! I just joined this forum.

I found this site googling in "Will I get Accepted?".

I seem to be doing this frequently in my spare time: asking my teachers opinions, typing in my stats in collegedata, etc. I'm always looking at statistics and numbers, and how I measure up. My friends have been telling me to shut up because all I talk about nowadays is if I'll get accepted....

....into UGA.
I visited a few schools this summer, and UGA was the only one that felt like the way college should be.

I would really appreciate if you could read my resume and evaluate my chance of getting in.

Grades and Stuff:
-GPA: 3.45
-SAT: 1170 (I plan on taking this again, I feel I can do better!)

Noteable Courses:
-AP Psychology (my soon to be major!)
-AP Biology

Through the AP Biology course, I traveled to the UGA Marine Center in Savannah, Georgia and did research projects with my class. During my spring break, a few of my friends in AP Biology as well as myself and my teacher stayed at the UGA Ecolodge in Costa Rica for 7 days. I hope this work with UGA gives me an advantage!

-AP Statistics
-AP Macro Economics
-AP US History
-Honors Chemistry
-Honors Biology
-Honors 9th Grade Literature
-Honors Japanese 1, 2, 3, 4

I took Japanese for 12 years. Starting in middle school and high school, I entered the honors course track and did that for four years. I also traveled to Japan in middle school, should I mention this on my application?

Extracurriculars:
-Marching Band (4 years): I was an officer for two years and ranked up to the flute and piccolo section leader. I have been playing flute for 9 years in the top bands in my schools, did solo & ensemble, etc.

I am a band geek to say the least :)

-Young Democrats Club (2 years)
-Anchor Club (2 years): All girl's service club
-Interact Club (2 years): Community service club
-Life Teen (3 years): Catholic youth group at my church
-HAP (Hornet Advisory Program; 2 years): A program which a group of mentors during the first half of their lunch to help freshmen adapt to high school life and academics
-Biology Tutor (2 years)
-St. Andrew's Music Program (1 year): I played flute with my church choir

I plan on applying Early Action this October

Thank you for taking the time to read this and responding! :)

is that SAT score out of 1600 or 2400?

oh! sorry i didn't say, that's out of 1600, haha

Bump up the SAT and I would say that you will make it in.

okay, well,

let's say that in worst case scenario, i don't bump up my SAT score. let's say i do even worse (not that i plan on this, i just think of every out come).

do i still have a chance of getting in?

You should still have a decent chance if you can get good teacher recommendations and write decent essays. Make sure that you show how much you like UGA in your essays (it looks like it's the perfect school for you :)

Are you in-state? If you are then you're probably in. I don't know about out of state chances though.

yes! i can pour my heart and soul into an essay, i really like writing!
and my teacher is really rooting for me to get in, so i'm sure he'll write something good.

only problem: i'm not going to write an essay/get a teacher recommendation because i'm doing early action. will this negatively impact my chances?

i really want to be a Red Coat in the marching band, haha! :)

yes, i am an in-state applicant.

aside from UGA,

does anyone know about Tech or GCSU?

i know about both Tech and UGA,

i applied EA yesterday to UGA as my safety.....i don't know why u like the school, i think imo its really down there; full of dumb ppl, drunks, drugs, and not that great. the sports are great, but in athens there is little to do. UGA Honors, however, is pretty decent, but not great.

i like the school, i don't care that much about the people that go there.

my grades would not exactly make uga a safety...

where did you end up going?
