I have ecs because I spend all my time on my job?

I have a few ecs, but they aren’t very impressive. Participated in a sport here, joined a club there. My SAT scores are high and I have a 4.0, but really no substantial ecs. This is because I have a part time job that I spend all my time working at. My life is school, work, house work, schoolwork, and occasional volunteering and attending clubs that don’t have a set curriculum or structure. How badly is this going to affect my chances of getting into a good college, and also is there any way I can mention my job in a positive way?

job=ec

Agree, the job will take the place on an in-school EC. It should not be an issue.

steady job >>>>> lame list of HS do-nothing clubs.

You’re fine!

Having a job is a good thing. Colleges like kids who are responsible, and having a job is responsible. No need to apologize for it. If you think you can write a good essay relating to your job, go for it. You can talk about an interesting, special or funny experieince at work, and use it to show what type of person you are. As an example, my friend’s son wrote about his experiences as a pizza delivery guy for his common app essay. He is a senior in college now. Yourmjob is part of who you are, so make the most of it.
