I have no clue what career to pursue!

I always find a reason I'm not capable of pursuing a certain job or that it's too hard. Will college prepare you for whatever you choose if you study and just try?

Yes, at average a college will give you around 2 years to prepare for your major before you enter in it. However, it depends on what major you want to do, some majors are demanding and require you to enter into that major right away.

<a href=“Explore Careers – BigFuture | College Board”>Explore Careers – BigFuture | College Board; - This is what helped me slim down to my top 3 possible majors, it is really helpful, take as much time as you need, this is pretty important.

Also, take advantages of classes, take classes you’re interested in and everything will usually fall in place for you in the future, make sure to impress colleges, but being yourself is more important.

This isn’t very scientific persay, but I find it can often give you some career direction.

<a href=“Personality test based on Jung and Briggs Myers typology”>http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp</a></p>

After you take it, navigate to the careers section, and picture yourself doing each. You may find out something you didn’t realize about your preferences. Keep in mind, the careers will be suggested based on what it is predicted you will like/enjoy doing rather than the best career for someone with skillset X.

If it doesn’t help, it only takes 10-15 minutes, so I would say it is very worth it.

@PengsPhils Plus, everyone should know their MBTI.

@Halogen yeah my friend group actually all took it for fun recently, some learned a lot. For me it confirmed a lot but no revelations. My best friend is the exact opposite of my type so I did get a good kick out of that. Everything matches up though, including career. I 30% N 60% T 88% P 20%. You? (if you want to share)

@PengsPhils heh, INTP, studying computer science and mathematics, pretty much the two most stereotypical INTP interests. With an ENFJ best friend.

puts thread back on rails

i have the same issues. any work i think is good for me turns out to be not good for me. everything i want i can’t do and even the things i don’t want but would do if i was desperate i can’t do. i can’t do anything but its not for a lack of wanting. just one way or another i don’t fit. maybe its my pacifist beliefs. i don’t know at this point.
