For the second time since my school turned on the heat in campus housing, I have none. It's literally not on at all. I checked by going under my bed and feeling the heater -- and guess what, it's stone cold!

I had physical plant come last week I believe, and they fixed it, and I thought I'd be good, but I thought wrong. Ugh. I called physical plant again to have them come fix it, and hopefully this time it's actually fixed, not temporarily fixed.

If not, I guess I'll just have to bring up a space heater from home. They're not actually allowed, but as long as they're hidden/out of the room when they do room checks before breaks, you're fine. My roommate and I had one sophomore year and it wasn't a problem at all.

No, the heat isn’t going to run 24/7, but if the heat is ON everywhere in my apartment but my room, there’s obviously a problem with the heating IN MY ROOM.

And I do bundle up, but if it’s freezing outside (which it was today), it’s still cold, even with layers on and being under blankets.

They do room checks before breaks to see if there are any items that aren’t allowed, and if there are, they confiscate them and you get charged a fee.

Remember, I live in campus housing, not my own apartment.

I absolutely do not mean this to be funny, since my cousin’s child had a similar problem in the past. Are there vent louvers in the vent in your room, and if so are they open?

The problem is that there’s air collecting wherever. They’ve “bled” it to make the heat work again, but it’s only been a temporary solution thus far. I don’t know how permanent of a solution it is.

Have you tried to buy one of the small personal heaters like posters above mentioned? I walked through Fresh Grocer like two days ago and they had some small electric heaters (about the size of an electric pencil sharpener) for like 16 dollars each.

In the meantime I’m thinking that investing in an electric blanket may help you ward off frostbite in your own room. Got D one and it stopped the complaints about freezing at night in a cold room, that is, until the school finally, belatedly, turned on the heat.

I have a heating blanket which I use a lot. I’m super glad I have it. I actually got it because the heating in my room last year was wonky and didn’t always work.

My family has about 3 space heaters at home, so I don’t feel the need to go out and buy something since I’m going home on Tuesday for Thanksgiving break, and I can just bring one back to school with me after break.

Although, if it’s still this cold in the next day or two, I might try to go to the store and get one since my heat has turned off once again.
