OP, A lot of state schools don’t care about your passion, or lack thereof. Many of them don’t care as long as your GPA and ACT are OK (some don’t care about that either). It is only the most selective schools that are obsessed with leadership and endless, frenetic activity because everyone has a 3.97 and 33+, and they need to have some way of deciding who they admit.
By reading your posts I think you should be a comedian, or a comedic writer. Your POV just is off enough to be funny, but not so much as to be weird. That’s a gift. Maybe marketing is your thing. Since you like to sleep, maybe for a pillow or mattress company. Anyway, you’ll find something.
^I was coming to say the same thing about the top part. Actually, the majority of colleges don’t really care as much about your passions and interests when it comes to admissions. Only the very most selective colleges do.
Well, this isn’t true. There are tons and tons of people - most, probably, actually - who are somewhere between passion and grinding (and nowhere near retail). Most people don’t work in passion fields, or work on things that they are extremely passionate about. That’s a myth. But there are lots of people who work satisfying jobs and like their career despite not working on the most exciting thing in the world.
I took AP classes in high school, I took the SAT twice yet that is still where I went and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I transfered to UCSC this past fall as a Business Management Econ major with an emphasis in accounting and have a summer internship set up. I wouldn’t have found accounting if it weren’t for junior college.
I worked my butt off and transfered in two years and will be graduating at UCSC in Spring 2018 right on time. There is nothing wrong with going to a community college to do your GE and find a passion and what you want your major to be. It is way more cost effective.
I still don’t have a “hobby” but I know I am going to enjoy what I am doing and made some amazing friends through this process who supported that decision and didn’t look down on my for it. You need to do what you feel is right and forget the judgement from others. You’ve got this!
