I got a part time job in summer vacation in a restaurant. But after 3 work days I were fired. I got 80 dollars cash from the maneger and signed receipt that said I have received it. But I did't pay any tax for it.

Now I told to the college that I have work experience in a restaurant. I want to fill this 80 dollars wage on FAFSA question 38.

Is this cash payment legal and should I pay any tax for this? And should I do something for my family tax report in Jan?

what about the college looked at my application that i said i had a job, but i do not fill any income on my fafsa application?
i want to enter this little amount money on my fafsa because i don’t want the college have question about my work experience…

You can work up to $600 with any one employer and not have to pay taxes on it and the company won’t report it to the IRS either. After $600, they have to take taxes out and report it or call it out as an independent worker and file a 1099. Neither of these apply to you, as you only made $80.

only one school that i have told i had a work experience. one of my teacher wrote this experience in the recommendation letter(she just wrote down what i have sent to her!) and sent it to college. should i asked my teacher to write a letter to college to correct this information?and put 0 on my fafsa?
or i still just put “80” on my fafsa?

You’re really overthinking this…the admissions office is not going to scrutinize your FAFSA line by line (and probably wouldn’t have any data about your FA app anyway). Put the $80 on your FAFSA and quit worrying about it. If this is your only income, you’re not required to file taxes.

Forget about it. It wasn’t reported to anyone and no one looking at your FAFSA has read the same letter about 80 bucks. Relax and happy new year.
