I have wasted 1 year of CC to find my major. I don't know what to do.

I am a student who recently finished his Freshman year in College. Sadly I am a student with a 2.95 GPA. The classes I took in CC when I was in High School carried over and screwed over my GPA to oblivion. I have recently decided what major I wanted to peruse however my late enlightenment now puts me in a big jeopardy. The major I want to peruse is Forensics (Bio Focused) however I have almost no prerequisites under my belt for this class. If this wasn’t bad enough I have to take other classes that are not even related to my major next quarter because I already paid for the classes and all the other classes I NEED to take are FULL. Because of this dumb mistake I might have to spend 2.5 years in community college to transfer rather than the “normal 2 year transfer program”. My parents are constantly nagging me about my failures in going to a “real college” and expects me to transfer out in the next year. I am currently suffering an extreme amount of stress just from parental pressure and my own stupidity. So please help me. I have almost no plans and almost no idea on what to do next.

I think that as of right now, you should focus on repairing your GPA. At the moment, I’d say you don’t really have the luxury of thinking whether you’ll be graduating on time. Graduating later is the least of your problems.

Analyze your situation and plan accordingly. Graduating later doesn’t seem so bad if you can leave CC with a solid GPA. At the end of the day, your ultimate, overarching goal is to transfer to a university. Never forget about that.

To briefly comment on your parents: If you choose to approach them about your issues, plans, and future (which you should!), I’d advise that you act like the young adult you are, and have a mature, open conversation with your parents.
