I'm pretty lost/scared. How do I go about getting experience when work places want experience :$?

What’s your major? What are your post-graduate plans?

Ok looking at your post history, you’re an econ major

Some clubs/ecs you can be involved in are econ/business clubs like Ascend, The Berkeley Group, Net Impact, ABA, PBL, etc to network and experience

Try get an internship this summer. check out career center for their job/internship fairs in the fall

While you can get club experience and EC and it will help marginally, I highly advise you spend your energy networking at career fairs and info sessions.

Club experience and EC are sort of just resume padders; you know it, I know it, and even employers know it. Their value isn’t highly regarded. Froshies usually do them because it’s all they can get their hands on, and even the most marginal benefit helps at their stage. But I think as a junior aiming for a summer internship it is so much more beneficial if you just know that one person from xyz firm that can pull through for you when you submit your resume. At that point, the content of your resume barely matters as oppose to just having a resume submitted.

– I realized I may offend some people who are zealous in their club activities, but this is just my opinion and I do not mean to devalue your time spent in your clubs. I have done clubs and spent considerable amount of time in them and still feel the same way, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Demoz, doing clubs is important. It shows that you’re not a lazy person and actually do things productive with your free time.

You can join clubs and get an internship at the same time. And don’t forget that clubs help a lot in networking and gaining internships from alumni from your club.
