I heard Reed supports the GAY community

I know a few kids from school who are gay who are all applying to REED because the school has a strong gay community. Is that true? If so how do they find this out? What other schools are like that.

The blasphemy! :o

I know that Reed accepts the gay community and that it has a (nonserious - although nothing is wrong with that) stereotype that everyone is bi. If you are concerned about aspects like this maybe you should look at religious institutions or Bob Jones U or something.

(that was supposed to be a sarcastic shocked look..)

many schools that are commonly thought of as liberal or even hippie tend to have large queer populations. reed, oberlin, vassar, nyu... i think it is because those schools tend to be more accepting and tolerant than, say, religious colleges (like bob jones. oh goodness.).
is a large gay community something that interests you, or repels you? i don't think it should be a criterion when you apply, because you will gravitate towards an environment that you're comfortable in anyway without looking at that one specific thing.

I wasnt being un PC. What is with you? And I dont care just thought it was a good way to start a thread. Reed is pretty gay oriented thats all according to some kids at my school who are gay. anything goes so what?

your original post did kinda sound like you were trying to find schools that had gay populations, and then avoid them..
i think it's an ok question though, it's good to find out about what the students are like at schools you could be interested in.

If I was gay I wouldnt want to go to a school that treated gays badly. Reed is cool with it and so are some others. I like to drink so I am not going to a school that is uptight about it. Otherwise it will affect my social life and that would suck.
