I already posted similar post on Harvard page but does appyling ED really really incrase your chance?
i mean, judging from the stats it should definitely boost you esp since its binding and everything but in reality, i have never met anyone who is not a legacy, URM, athletic or whatever and get into ED priceton while I saw several Harvard EA..

Do you think this year's Early pool will surge because it's the last year of ED and 2011 students will have a sense of "If I don't try for Pton Early now, I never will?"

good question, oasis. it might be because of this or because of princeton's top position according to u.s. news (and some people care, believe me)

Well, you only get the chance to apply to colleges once, so what does it matter if this is the last year of ED or not? This would've been your only opportunity to apply ED to Princeton even if they would have kept it for the next 20 years (unless you skip a year).

also, princeton's been #1 in u.s. news for seven straight years, so its top ranking shouldn't spur any great increase. personally, i don't see the ED application numbers going up much, if at all, this year (maybe a bump thanks to redoubled recruiting efforts), but i'll be surprised and a bit disappointed if the number of admits isn't down, in prep for next year's single-deadline system.

zzibuya, where did you end up applying? also, I doubt that Princeton's ED applications will goose. Nothing has radically changed, and I doubt people would feel much more urge than they had before to put an ED application into Princeton if it weren't their first choice already.

I ended up applying to Princeton!
Well, I knew I would have such a narrow choice in that binding option but,,,,, I also knew I will be just so SUPER happy to be in Princeton,, well at least judging from all current Princeton students.
I can only cross my finger and wAIt!

Last year, ED Princeton acceptance rate was ~30%, which was about 3x RD acceptance. Then again, some people argue that the ED pool is stronger, there are recruits, legacies, etc. etc.
