Instead of saying I worked at my job since July 2018 i put july 2017. And then for Brown university i mentioned in my short essay about how i have been working there for 6 months so it won’t add up with my resume. Should i notify the schools?
Yes, send a brief email to admissions at each school and say something like “i am writing to alert you to a typo on my work history. I’ve been employed at X since July 2018 not 2017.” This is no big deal since it is obviously a typo and nothing else about your information supports the idea that you purposely misrepresented your employment. Once they make the change everything else falls into place. I would not worry too much about this. It is a small typo-we all have typos. So do they. Don’t worry.
No. This is not a big deal.

They may question discrepancies in your application unless you clear it up before hand.
