Hey guys,
About an hour ago I burnt some mac and cheeeeeee in the microwave and the whole lounge got filled with smoke and the fire alarm went off and everyone had to get off.

Will I get punished at all or fined or anything? Ahhh

I don’t think so, but your RA & RD might not be too happy. It wasn’t intentional.

If it makes you feel better, during my university’s graduation ceremony last semester, a child pulled the fire alarm. Of course this was all in the muddle of the president’s speech; he was fuming!

People did the surprisingly often in the dorms at my school. I doubt you’ll get in trouble. Just try not to do it again, because it’s really annoying for the other residents (speaking from experience).

Haha, confess and find out i guess

Don’t worry about it. At all of the schools I’m familiar with, stuff like that happens all the time, and schools don’t bother fining students for abusing their microwave privileges. Tomorrow you’ll probably get an email saying something along the lines of don’t be an idiot, only heat something for the amount of time it needs to be heated for.

One of my roommates had a habit of accidentally burning things in the microwave and setting off the fire alarms, and they never even pinned it down to her because the microwave was in the suite common room. So long as it wasn’t on purpose, you won’t get in any serious trouble.

I just want to add that I think it’s hilarious that you came and posted this question on here immediately after the event.

Nothing should happen, just try not to let it happen again because it inconvienences a lot of people…firefighters, RAs, residents, maintenance, etc.

I’ve already contacted the authorities to let them know we’ve got the identity of the culprit. ;)

Seriously though, I imagine you’ll be fine. Just pay attention to the microwave in the future.
