I messed up.

What awesome news!! I’m so happy for you. Please remember that you still need to commit to another school by May 1st though. If you get off the waitlist, then you will just lose the deposit you made at another school. But if you don’t get off the waitlist, you definitely want to be registered at another school already.

@ACollegeHopeful3

I was just reading on another thread where someone posted the grim stats from CMU for last year from the Common Data Set (Google to pull it up…).

That doesn’t mean it will be the same this year.

Keep us updated! Pulling for you!

@midwest67 i saw, believe me. 4 kids accepted off a waitlist of over 2000. but i’ll keep hoping! i got accepted to ursinus today with another generous scholarship that’s over half tuition.

also hoping since applications everywhere wildly increased more people won’t commit and i’ll have a better chance. of course nobody knows but im happy to not even be outright rejected.

Did your acceptance from Ursinus include any need based aid, or are you still waiting for the complete financial aid package?

Congratulations on Ursinus!!! :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile: :slight_smile:
Congratulations on the scholarship, too. You should have some financial aid with that scholarship - crunch the numbers, with PHEAA, Pell, Stafford, what your parents can give you, does it make Ursinus affordable?

I have almost 10k with pheaa and all that
FA hasn’t come out so I hope I get a grant but it’s competitive at least.

Congrats on your acceptance to Ursinus! Did they give you the Gateway Scholarship or something else?

Not sure if you know, but their admitted students day is this Friday. We’ll be there with both our twin Ds. One is likely to go there, as her Ursinus merit is a lot more than Muhlenberg offered. The other one is less likely to matriculate there, even though it’s number two on her list. If you can make that visit work, I think it would be a really good idea for you. The schedule of events is available on their website, if it’s a possibility.

gateway scholarship!! it’s 60% of tuition and i was incredibly pleased. also enjoyed the animated confetti on their acceptance letter online. friday is really short notice and it’s a pretty long drive and i have a community commitment the day after so it’s likely i won’t be able to attend the admitted students day :frowning: congrats to your daughters though! i am hoping to schedule a tour a little further out in the month assuming the FA is competitive.

a little update- FA was mailed today for ursinus and i interviewed today for the dean’s scholarship over the phone with washcoll for the dean’s scholarship. i feel like it went really well and i had a great connection with my interviewer because we had similar first-gen backgrounds. that should come out mid-april so i will have all the financial info before decision day :slight_smile: unfortunately i’m still waiting on YSU (they had an issue with how my SAT was printed on my transcript with no date, and my school counselor refuses to fix it in any way, so it looks like im gonna have to chuck another 12 bucks at the collegeboard but they will review the scorereports sent to me in the meantime to move on with app review) and UNM (birthdate typo on form that had to be corrected with a pic of state id). hoping to schedule tours for my most affordable picks the last couple weeks in april and hopefully make a decision.

Congratulations! You’re doing great. :slight_smile:

I know a local family who had 2 students attend Washington College, and they received enough merit and need based aid to bring the cost well below the price of our state flagship.

I am still also hoping that Ursinus comes through with a good package for you. It has a lot to offer, and I think it is sort of a hidden gem which often gets over shadowed by the other numerous colleges located in the greater Philly area.

ursinus told me they mailed my FA yesterday so here’s hoping :slight_smile: the NPC said washington college would cost me roughly the same out of pocket as my state flagship but i’ll see what the numbers say!

I think Ursinus has better financial aid than Washington. Fingers crossed.
You’re doing very well. It’s been a roller coaster month but you’ve done in a few weeks as much work on college apps as many over months.

luckily i’ve had my activities and essays ready to go so it cut down on a lot of effort. i will wait and see! :slight_smile: it looks like YSU’s aid is going to be good as well just based on the scholarships i qualify for, but i dont have a decision for them yet.

@heyigotnoclue this thread details the situation i was/am in and what colleges were still accepting applications as of a few weeks ago. if any of these schools interest you and have the program you want, i suggest you apply ASAP.

FYI - D1 enjoyed herself at the Ursinus accepted students day - we deposited there the next day! (D2, on the other hand, will be attending elsewhere). If you have any questions, let me know. Hopefully things are continuing to look up for you.

@ACollegeHopeful3 : any news?

thank you! @RandyErika congrats to both your daughters. @MYOS1634 no news unfortunately, i believe i have a few FA packages coming in the mail today, still waiting to hear from UNM and YSU regarding decisions.

Thanks!

Looking forward to hearing from you with your good news soon, @ACollegeHopeful3.
