I mostly have Cs and a 3.1 GPA. Will this affect my college admissions?

I’m taking 1 AP class and 2 IB classes and I have mostly Cs in the classes. I know I can handle the level of difficulty and workload but I have no motivation to get it done. I have severe depression which makes it hard to do simple tasks although I’m not using it as an excuse. I’m worried that I won’t get into a college such as VCU with my gpa. I was in 3 clubs, I took German and French so I will be getting an advanced diploma, I painted a mural for the school and I plan on getting high SAT and ACT scores. I also want to get some hours of volunteering in during senior year. I’m concerned I won’t get into a good college or be eligible for scholarships, as my family is unable to afford school. Every quarter I tell myself I’m going to get my grades up but I never do. I feel like it’s too late with it being the fourth quarter and the covid 19 situation happening. In my mind, I’m set up for failure in life. Does anybody have advice on what I should do? Or anybody else that can relate?

Virginia has a very good community college system with a guaranteed transfer to any in state public university after two years if you get a certain gpa. With your grades and budget, that might be the way to go.

Do you have an opportunity to contact a therapist about your depression? Seems to me that that would be the first thing to get in order. Please
communicate with your school’s guidance counselor about what you are feeling. Maybe she can work with you or arrange some kind of virtual counseling through your health department. My daughter’s school counselor is available online…check your school system website to see If that is offered. Your life and your mental health are important!

Many people are able to find success in life starting at community college or a nearby directional state university while commuting from home to save money. Is there something like that near your home? Can you stay with your parents after you graduate from high school?
