I need a good excuse to give my Prof a gift.

So I have a professor who has been really fair to me. I go through chronic health issues and end up missing classes and looking bored in class and having to hand in stuff late sometimes and this one professor of mine has been really understanding and helpful and even encouraging and not in the least way have I felt pitied or weak by the way he treats me, which is great, because sometimes even when teachers/bosses/other people are understanding they can give off a vibe of "Oh I just feel sorry that your life sucks so I'll allow this but otherwise I think you're a terrible student and you get on my nerves." And I don't get that from him. =]

Anyway, I need a reason to get him a gift without being weird or seeming like I'm sucking up. Any suggestions? I was thinking of getting chocolate or something and just saying "This is for you just cause I'm learning a lot in this class cause you're a great professor." <-yes, no, asi asi?

Just say its a thank you for being very understanding as to your health problems and his willingness to help You suceed in class

Agreed with ramli. Saying “cause you’re a great professor” just sounds suckuperish.

Wait until after the term is over and grades are posted, otherwise it might seem like you’re trying to butter him up.

I agree, maybe something closer to Christmas, but give a thank-you card with it instead so he knows that you appreciated the help.
