I don't really like my dad that much, so I would try to spend as much time at my grandmother's house.

I'm still applying to boarding school next year, and if I get in, that'll be great, but I need a back-up plan. I also need to figure out a way so my family can afford 35k+ on high school. If they can't, that's okay. I can go to a really good private or public school where my dad lives, or drive thirty minutes to Ann Arbor every day.

well, if you are in the middle of high school, moving to canada may not be the greatest choice with credit transfers and whatnot...a kid i know moved here from canada and none of his math credits transferred so he had to do them all over again...adn i think it was the same..as for canadian high schoolers applying to american universities, i dont think it will be a big deal, but their system is based on percentages which im sure you already know....so im not sure how your gpa would convert.....but if the situation is so bad here that you dont think you can stick it out and make good grades, you should go for it..

oh, ok, well if you are in 7th grade you've got nothing to worry about...if you arent happy where you are, you should go ahead and transfer...just make sure you do well wherever you do go, because that is what is really going to matter in the end...

Also, if I go to a Canadian high school, and apply to American universities, would this help me or hinder my admissions decision?

I think you'd be classified as an international. If this is the case, then admissions to American universities would be quite competitive for you because international student quotas are really low.

I can make good grades here, it's just that I don't like my school, or the people at my school.

I'm in seventh grade now, by the way.

Get the hell off these forums. You are going to ruin yourself! 7th grade...you should be playing video games and not worrying about college admissions. That is sick! lol

A lot of schools don't consider Canadians to be internationals. Almost no schools treat american citizens as internationals.

I think jonathan k. has a situation that needs to be solved. There are so many stupid ass threads on here everday and nobody says stop *****ing "Thats how life goes." to them. Jonathan K. keep making these threads don't stop cause some ass tells you.

I would say to first wait a few months, then make your decision. Generally the "sick of my family" thing may or may not pass. Sometimes getting a bit older can help a lot with dealing with family problems.
