Thanks to everyone for the help,
@happymomof1 I am doubtful that it would be enough money saved, even with the money I have been saving up working. Unless I would be able to transfer to UNC or UVA (I hear they meet 100% of need which includes federal loans, but I might be wrong). I think I might end up going to CofC. It wouldn’t be what I wanted (really want to leave South Carolina), but I think it is a good school. When I visited it looked really nice. I’ll have a chance to leave SC doing a study abroad for a semester. If I go there I also qualify for the SC LIFE scholarship, so that would bring down costs. If I do not go there it would most likely be the CC that i got dual credits from; get an associates than transfer. I was able to get into the bridge to Clemson program (a program for qualifying students that were close to getting accepted), but there was a March 1st deadline to accept and I had not a single idea of what I wanted to do than. Clemson is also a very conservative area in my experience (nothing against conservatives, just want a more accepting area). Charleston is technically a city, and I definitely do not want to put any burden on my parents with super expensive tuition.
@momprof9904 My sisters friends went to U of South Carolina and recommended that I do not go unless I am thinking about international business (I had no plan on going there anyways - I do not like Columbia). I think CofC is a good school. It is a good bit based on location. Though, Charleston is one of the nicest areas of South Carolina.
Charleston is a great city and beautiful school. Do your best and you’ll find great success in life.
Really @RahsHasAwoken I would go with College of Charleston and not look back! If it had my daughter’s major, I think it would be a favorite for her.
Look into App State. It has a more liberal and progressive town up in the mountains near Virginia. It is not the deep south at all.
I believe College of Charleston attracts a lot of artsy students so I bet you would find it gay friendly. That’s probably something you could find out. Also, even though it’s in your state you will be meeting people from all over as it attracts kids from far away. GL
My son attends CofC. They are increasing their diversity and is also LGBTQ friendly. Charleston as a community is also LGBTQ friendly. It leans more liberal than some of the other instate schools. It’s a great school. I think you would enjoy it.
C of Charleston is beautiful as well
