@teenbb: Op’s PSAT-based projected SAT score was 1440 CR+M+W so I don’t think she can fetch merit money from an OOS public.

I went on the ASU scholarship calc and it was $8-12k with a 3.7+ (uw), top 25%, and 1000-1200 m+cr as a NJ resident.

I guess they weight GPA more than test scores for some of the awards. Depending on the breakdown, that might not be too hard to obtain. I know nearly all OOS wouldn’t give merit to low test score/avg GPA, but ASU might be an option if the GPA is in fact unweighted.

Good to know re: GPA vs. test scores at ASU, especially for test scores that low. :)

OP: apparently, if you can get 100 more points and if your GPA as posted is unweighted, you have a shot at an ASU scholarship!

My gpa is unweighted. I finish midterms tomorrow so that gives me a week to do extensive SAT studying. My plan is to take the SAT now as a benchmark point. Take it again Senior year and to take the ACT somewhere in between. When do you guys think i should take the ACT and another SAT? When i find out my score in a few eeks i will let you guys know. thanks

Historically, at our HS, the best test scores for the ACT happen in June. Schools out here, so the kids can relax and not worry about other things, which translates to higher test scores, though the advantage is not that great. But some NE schools are still in session, or just getting out around that date.

Sorry its been so long.
My school made us take the ACT as a new program and I am pretty sure i did horrendus. The science made no sense. I am taking the SAT May 3. Thanks for all the help guys.
