I scoured the site and tried everything I read. I am now posting this as a last resort. I do not qualify for federal loans, I do not have a credit score, and my parents have a 605/611 credit score. Does anyone know of any way I could get loans? I am driving myself insane over this.

Why don’t you qualify for federal loans?

In general, if you can’t get federal loans, you will need a cosigner to get a loan. I don’t think credit scores in the 600s would make it impossible for your parents to cosign loans for you, but you would probably not get very favorable terms.

Other than federal loans, there’s no way you could get loans by yourself, so if you don’t and can’t qualify for those, you’re out of luck on that fron.

It doesn’t sound like loans are a good idea for you. Work and commute from home to a local CC or state univ and pay for it out of your earnings.

Go to a school you can afford.

I don’t qualify for federal because I’m 19, my parent’s income is too high. Their credit score being 605, and the fact they had to file partial bankruptcy, I can’t get private loans. Also, that’s another issue, I have been commuting and working 40-50 hours a week to go to a community college. I’m near the end of my 2 years.

No matter what your financial need (or lack thereof), if you file a FAFSA you are allowed to take out Federal Stafford loans as long as your school participates in the program. No credit check is required. These loans would be in your name without a co-signer. $5500 Freshman year, $6500 Sophomore Year and $7500 for each of Junior and Senior years. You need to be a US citizen or permanent resident (or “eligible non-citizen” – I’m not sure what the qualifications are there), you must be making satisfactory academic progress toward your degree, and enrolled at least half-time, and not be delinquent on any federal student loans already.
