Of course Harvard and Yale are going to be long shots - they are for anyone. You have EXCELLENT (as in, I'd be surprised if you didn't get in) for the rest of them. Excellent job with everything!

Thanks, i'm sweating a little less :)

harvard and yale are probably reaches for anyone, but i'd say you've got a great shot at the rest of them.

Hi fighttothefinish!

I'll help you out by giving you a eval ... so here is yours:

Your UW GPA of 4.12 weighted is pretty good ... if out of 4.3 ... but it's less impressive if out of 4.5. By the time you graduate, you will have taken 6 APs, which is slightly below the average number of APs CCers usually have if they apply to these top schools ... but of course CCers are overachievers. If your school limits the number of APs that you can take or offers a limited number of AP courses, you should ask your counselor to explain your situation in his/her rec. That can help you out.

On to your test scores: An SAT of 2080 is pretty good and you are within the middle 50 percent of most of the schools you are applying to ... albeit at the lower ends for the tops. Your pattern of test scores tells me that you are relatively weak at math and strong at english and science.

Your ECs are decent and demonstrate leadership; however your activities don't really reveal any career interest.

Overall, you're a good student, but you don't really stand out from the rest of the crowd with your academics and ECs. Distinguish yourself by writing strong essays.

Chances:
Hahvahd: Reach (for almost everyone it is)
Yale: Reach (ditto ... tho I heard that they like people who play crew)
JHU: Slight reach
NYU: Match
George Wash: Match
Brandeis: Match
Boston U: Match
Northeastern: Safety match
UMass Amherst: Safety

Good luck!
