BUMP

Bumpbumpbumpbump....

I think your lists are about complete (though you might want to dump UC-Davis if you really want to be in or near a big metro area; and you might want to dump Rutgers because there's a reason people from New Jersey are prevalent at just about every decent college in the country--their own state's state university is good but from what I can tell, it's nothing to write home about). That still gives you about 20 schools to ponder. If you visited them, you'd probably quickly dump half of them because they just don't feel right to you.

One big factor which might help you weed some out without actually visiting them is deciding just how much of an urban-type person you are. There is a world of difference between being in a suburban setting just minutes from the heart of a big city (e.g. Boston College, Northwestern, Maryland) and actually being IN the heart of the city (e.g., Boston U, Columbia, Chicago, Northeastern, George Washington). And if you're ok with being in the heart of the city, are you also enough of an urbanite that being in one of the rougher sections of town is something you'd take in stride? Good luck, and start planning your visits as soon as possible--having 20 possible colleges bouncing around in your head must be exhausting.

Yeah, and finding all the essential stats for all of them is a nightmare.

Why is NYU Stern ED a reach? I would think with your SATs you'd get in. I want to apply there and I don't know if I'll do that well on the SAT.
