While we’re at it, how much will a person living at the dorms actually expect to pay?

(According to the university:

Estimated Cost of Attendance$ 27,360 / yr

Tuition and fees $10,214
Housing and meals (On-Campus) $11,456
Books and supplies $750
Transportation $1,490
Other miscellaneous educational costs $3,450

However, some of those fees [transportation and “other educational costs”] seem too high to be factual.)

You can find the dorm price here: <a href=“UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining”>UHD Homepage | University Housing and Dining;
It looks like a person living in the dorm is expecting to pay at least $9k per academic year.

@Fredjan I had the same question for my UT Dallas counselor. He told me the transportation is based on if you will be bringing a car and the miscellaneous is just random things like toothpaste, supplies (binders, spirals, paper), bedding, etc. The transportation and miscellaneous costs are included in the COA to get students to think about the other expenses that college brings with it because many students live with their parents and never really have to worry about buying things like toothpaste when it runs out, etc. He told me that the only cost you’d have to worry about paying UT is mainly the Tuition, Housing and Books (however, it is a LOT cheaper than $750 if you buy used and not new). So yeah, everything there is just base on an average UT calculates.

The range is closer to 18-20k (which means one lives off campus with roommates) that being said, that is expensive. Consider how much more private school students will have to pay, it is stunning. My belief if you go into to debt up to $50,000 especially for a STEM degree and possible business, you have made a good investment. $50k for any other degree is questionable and probably not worth it, but YOLO right and to some degree it is a manageable debt. However, if you want a quality job after college, you will need a master’s degree which is another $35k per year. If your degree is not a STEM degree get your undergrad education were it is cheaper.

But I will have to transfer into chemistry.
I did get my major of chemistry at Texas a&m though

Any input you give great advice

Hello, I’m a current UT student.

You need to weight your options. A&M has a very good medical school and is actually ranked up by UT Austin as far as academics. You should never just blatantly turn down any school without weighing the pros and cons.

About the new medical school; I have plenty of family that work very high in the medical field, they have all advised my friend(a medical student) to not attend the new medical school here in Austin. They have told me that attending a brand new medical school doesn’t look great on a resume.

Really but its being made by bill gates. It opens 2016 and o graduate 2018. Since bill gates has money i taught the funding and program would be excellent

Are you still deciding whether to attend UT or A&M?

A little bit

I know it’s stupid if me

I know what you all thinking make up your ■■■■■■■ mind already.
Wish i could ugghhhh i hate myself

No, I understand - it’s a big choice. Is there a deadline for deciding?
