In addition to my counsellor recommendation and two teacher recommendations, my sister also wrote me one (originally for Dartmouth, and Dartmouth specifically recommends that extra recommendation). She asked me to read it, and I thought it was very nice and personal so I sent it to 3 other schools too. Now I’m worrying if it makes me look like I’m trying too hard, or if the admissions officers would get tired of reading four LORs? (Actually, my counsellor voluntarily showed me her LOR before she submitted it, and it was just really short. Coming to think about it, I wouldn’t even count that. So are three normal-sized recommendations “trying too hard”?)
Dartmouth is the only college I know of that asks for a peer recommendation. I can’t imagine any other college will consider a LOR from your sister. I would not have sent it to the other schools but it’s done so don’t worry about it.
Same here.
