I told my parents I am starting college in the fall

But I already passed the deadline and now I have to start in spring… this might be weird but I want to know what particular things do college students have? I am in New york, applying for CUNY I think there’s a special college id… what else other than books? There’s a problem with telling them that I can’t start before spring semester…

So, I’m confused, you’re planning to deceive them?

Honestly, I don’t see that working, and when it fails, I don’t see that going well. This is like an episode of Seinfeld, where a character (usually George) does something kind of dumb and then just digs himself in deeper and deeper by lying about it for the next 22 minutes.

That’s why my wife can’t stand to watch Seinfeld.

i get what you are saying but its not like I am not planning on going to college, I will just start a few months later… if I tell them I wont be going in the fall then they will kick me out of the house…

Umm, things they might expect to see include bills and transcripts… That’s what college students have…

This should be interesting…

…not as interesting as a Seinfeld episode but interesting nonetheless.

It’s like the movie Accepted but without the happy ending!

I certainly hope that axel200 keeps us updated on the progress of his personal sitcom…

Axel, if you really got what I am saying, you would have put this preposterous idea out of your head already.

It will not work, and it will end badly. When I found out you had been deceiving me about going to college–and make no mistake, I would find out–being kicked out of the house wouldn’t even make the list of the top ten things you’d need to worry about.

Axel200, it does seem like you are just making a bad situation worse. Chances sound like you will be caught out. I take it you plan on living at home while going to school. Why will they kick you out for going a few months later? Can you come up with a plan of what you will do for the semester that might make them less angry? Can you line up a temp job? I suppose it goes without saying that you better get it together with your deadlines if such dire consequences are in store for messing up.

I’m not sure exactly what your situation is. Did you not apply to college? Did you not get in to college?

What do college students have? They have an acceptance letter. They have a financial aid statement. They have a tuition bill. Don’t your parents expect to see these things? Did they not expect to fill out a FAFSA? What planet are they–and you–living on?

It’s not too late to go to school this fall. Sign up now for community college in your area, and explain to your parents you are getting your gen eds out of the way at a lesser cost. Or go over to the admission offices of some of the less selective local colleges, and have them walk you through the admissions and enrollment process.

But you will need to make sure you --or your parents–are prepared to pay tuition.

You didn’t tell your parents you got a full, free ride, did you?

“I am in New york, applying for CUNY”

Are you certain that you have missed the deadlines for the fall at all of the possible CUNY campuses? Check the various websites, and find out if there still is time. Paying a visit in person wouldn’t hurt either.
