I took a practice AP Euro AP Test and did really bad.

So I decided to do a little AP Test prep for AP European History, I opened up the AP Euro test prep book I got at the beginning of the year, took an 80 question practice MC Test. I graded it and my results were dreadful. I got 40/80 on the MC which is terrible for me, I get A's on almost all the tests in my class and I got an A in the class first Semester and have an A in the class this Semester. Any advice on how to improve my score?

Just practice and study more?

If you get 7’s on the FRQ’s and DBQ, even with 40/80, you’ll get a 4. Keep reviewing.

I could see myself getting a 7 on the DBQ, I looked at the FRQ prompts from previous years and they look horrible.

AP Exams are designed so that you don’t get all (or most) correct - in reality, a 60% on the MC puts you on the right path to a 5 assuming you don’t royally screw up the FRQs; so a 40/80 isn’t terrible - you just need to make some slight improvements.

Ok, so how do you suggest to prepare for FRQ’s (Besides the obvious review the material) like is there any resources or study methods that are helpful for FRQ’s, because I looked at the ones from previous years and I can only find like 2 that I think I would get a 6 or better on.

Just like many have said before me, it’s not that bad. If you REALLY want to improve, consider buying a review book. I had a lot of success in AP Euro exams using the Princeton Review book. Read it, Re-Read it. Any time you have 15 mins of free time, read a section. I think I must have read the book from cover to cover 2 or 3 times from February to May, before the exam, and several sections I could’ve read up to 6 times. Do several practice MC and essays. I usually got around 50-60 on the MC but my forte was on the essays, where I got consistent 8s and 9s (my teacher is an AP reader, we did maybe 20 essays throughout the year, all 9s except two 8s) If you want any advice on essay writing let me know, I’ll be glad to help

The practice test I took was a review book, but I’ll look into the PR one.

Yeah, I’m good on DBQ’s, we have done 6 this year, I got a 3 on the first one but have gotten at least a 7 or higher on the 5 after that. FRQ’s in our class are much easier than the ones I saw from previous years. The last one we got was, “Compare and contrast the rise of Fascism vs the Rise of Nazism.” And he shows you the prompt the day before you actually write the essay so you have that night to look stuff up and he even sometimes lets us use a flashcard to aid us on the FRQ. And he lets us as a class make our own rubric and he usually has another class grade our essays (the average of 2-3 peoples scores that they give you).

The prep book I have is the Cliff notes AP Euro 2nd edition. My friend gave it to me because he had never used it. Is it a good prep book?
