<p>Psychology is not one of the humanities.</p>
<p>If OP wants to be a teacher, OP can get a BA in history, English, poliltical science, and teach this to high school students with certification. Being a teacher and being professor are two very different things – professors are often teachers but they are much more than just that. The commitments are also very different.</p>
<p>There’s also the option of just reading widely, and taking classes in the field. OP, if taking classes in history, English, and other humanities is enough to satisfy you, you shouldn’t pursue a Ph.D. You should pursue a Ph.D if you the passion to go beyond your classes and find out more through independent study and research. People who get Ph.Ds are being prepared to become scholars, not really teachers.</p>
