Hello everyone so, heres the deal. I want to go to Stanford ever since I visited the campus for NUMEROUS reasons. I think what the school represents essentially is me! I plan on starting my own business someday (plan on majoring in business) and I love innovation, and being an entrepreneur. I have been an entrepreneur ever since I was a kid, I would sell things- anything, that I made or crafted or whatever. I love the whole atmosphere of Stanford with all of the innovation and startups- its great! I started by own business this year where I donated part of the proceeds to help save endangered sea turtles (i live in the area & dive too so). I also have my own blog where I actually get 15,000 visitors a month and its growing. I also write for HerCAmpus.com and I am a contributor to the startup magazine -TREND. I took the most rigorous courses available to me in my school which was just all honors. Up until this year, I decided to switch schools so I could make my courses more rigorous and challenge myself. So I went and took classes at the state college, but i still go to a private school. My GPA currently is 3.9 UW and 4.3 W, and I plan on getting a 30+ on the ACT (i just took it for the first time last saturday so waiting for my scores).
^don’t listen to the above poster.
OP, we need test scores first. Do you have any other EC’s? Also, if you are a completely unhooked applicant (no legacy, URM, athlete recruit, etc.) and you did everything “right” in high school, you wanna know what your chances are? Let me tell you straight up: it’s last year’s dismal acceptance rate of 5.1%. You have as much of a chance as anyone, and if this is your dream, then go for it when the time comes.
There’s no question here. Is this another “chance” request?
@basedchem Soccer was kind of my thing freshman and sophomore year but my knee and back got really bad this year and especially my knee so I was advised to not play this year…
Your stats sound great although hard to say without scores but please know that Stanford DOESNT HAVE and undergraduate business program!! Their business school is GRADUATE LEVEL ONLY! Also Penn and Cornell are the ONLY Ivy’s to have undergraduate business… so if business is your passion like you say you need to go somewhere else for undergrad and then go to Stanford for business…
@runswimyoga whatTT? well couldn’t i still take classes at Stanford for undergrad and then go into business??
If you are not a recruited DI athlete, a legacy, a URM with high stats and have a celebrity status or building a small country, Stanford is a very big reach.
Stanford cannot accept thousands of students. It only has so many seats. It wants a specific, knowledgeable student.
So, you didn’t investigate Stanford’s business department? Wow.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how much you love Stanford. Stanford does not care that you love it… Stanford has its pick of the most qualified students in the country. They turn away plenty of students with perfect test scores and outstanding ECs. But it also doesn’t even sound like it meets your academic needs.
So… take a deep breath and rub those stars out of your eyes. Once you get your test scores back, figure out what your match and safety schools are. Anyone can find reaches – the hard part of the app process is doing the work to figure out a list of schools that match your stats, offer the academics you want, and are affordable. Start with matches and sateties. Once those are identified, add 2-3 reaches like Stanford to your list.
The Fiske Guide to Colleges is a good place to start, and have your parents run the net price calculators on each college website for schools you are interested in.
Then go visit some other campuses, too
