It may be a little early for me to consider this, as I am going into my sophomore year of high school, but I really want to go to Switzerland for college. I’ve always loved Switzerland, and I’d love to just directly apply to a university there (not go through a US college and only do a semester). I was looking at some different colleges, but this seems to be the standard admission requirement (for this example I used the University in Geneva since i’ll be more fluent in french, but I know that option 2 goes for the majority of universities in Switzerland):
Option 1: High School Diploma, Two years of successful studies (obtaining 60 credits US) at a university, and a program recognized by the University of Geneva French Exam.
Option 2: High School Diploma, 5 Advanced Placement Exams, minimum score for each AP Exam is 3, 5 subjects should include two languages, mathematics, a subject in natural sciences and a subject in the humanities and social sciences. Particular shall not be recognized: Art History, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Music Theory, Psychology, Statistics, Studio Art, Comp. Government and Politics, US Government and Politics. The french exam also must be passed.
I’d prefer to go to college there straight after high school, so option 1 is out unless it’s possible to take those classes with summer programs at colleges and get 120 credits in time for graduation of high school. With option 2, the setup of my school and the classes I need for graduation will never let me reach those requirements. For starters, I know I can’t get to AP in French because I will be taking French 4 my senior year. Is there any way to go about doing this? What would options be, such as summer school at a college or are there gap year programs that can help you fill in the gaps? I really have no clue what to do with it.
