I was deferred from the CofC because of poor SAT scores. They recommended taking the ACTs but I am a terrible test taker and have really bad test anxiety. What would you recommend doing to boost my chances of getting in through regular admission? Any suggestions? I REALLY want to go here, it is my number one school.

Did they tell you it was because of low SAT’s? Just wondering how that was communicated, S was deferred as well but no word on why.

I think you have to buck up and take the ACT, as the school suggested. In college, you will take mid-terms and finals which will be make up 100% of your grade for the course, so work on your test anxiety now and prepare yourself. One big difference my s noted between high school and college is that there are no easy ways to pick up extra points, like in high school. You may only have a three or four graded assignments/tests/finals in a course, so every test grade is important. BTW, he loves CofC. Good luck with the ACT!

what did you get on your SAT?
