I wrote in my essay that the diversity of FSU is almost unparalled

edit: *unparalleled

Then I looked up how diverse it was, after I submitted (stupid, I know), and found out FSU is 80% white. Does that make me look like an idiot? :l

Its just that I've written similar essays for universities and they were all REALLY diverse... FSU is probably the least diverse that I've applied to.

If your stats are good and in/above their range, I doubt it’ll make a huge impact especially since the essay is optional. They’re also reading thousands of essays so it’ll probably be overlooked as long as that’s not the focus of your essay.

Ok, thanks!

Yeah, the essay really is only going to be a factor if you’re borderline on being accepted. For probably 90% (just a guess) of applicants, your essay won’t even be read.

As for it being optional, it is (apparently, which is new), but really you should do it. Not doing it severely hinders your application, especially if you are anywhere near borderline for acceptance.

Hmm…and it’s 67% white (undergraduate) and 25% URM. Most Florida public schools are fairly diverse. It’s not UGA (74% and 12%), Clemson (84% and 9%) or Auburn (85% and 10%).

Hahahah it’s definetely not unparralled. Look at GEORGIA state, that’s a diverse school.

Some at FSU think it has a lot of diversity, so you might be okay. We’ve lived in a lot of places and find that people in Florida think schools, businesses, housing is ‘diverse’ if there are any people of color in the group.

That’s probably North Florida people, lol. Sometimes I forget where FSU is located. I live in Miami and my school is roughly 1/3 black, 1/3 Hispanic, and 1/3 white AND we just got some Chinese exchange students too. People always talks about how diverse our school is so for some reason I thought FSU would be similar.
