Scores of 4 or higher on IB French B, German B, Classical Latin and Spanish B examinations fulfill the foreign language proficiency requirement for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Journalism and Communications, and B.A. programs in the College of Fine Arts, regardless of whether you earned the IB diploma.

So does UF accept credit for a 4 in any IB foreign language at the B level, or just for French, German, Latin, and Spanish? From the first statement it sounds like the answer is yes.

Melissa is correct. Typically foreign language classes will count towards elective credits (depends on major of course).

Depending on your specific college, a foreign language proficiency may not be necessary. The college of liberal arts and sciences for example is one college which does require a foreign language proficiency requirement.

Additionally, any native proficiency you have can fulfill the requirement even. I have a friend who spoke Mandarin at home (couldn’t write well), and if you have native proficiency then you may be able to speak to a faculty member at the university and use that to satisfy the requirement.

Furthermore, obtaining a certain SAT II Subject score is yet another way to meet the ‘proficiency’ requirement.

All right. I’ll count myself as exempt from foreign language at UF because I scored a 4 on an IB Language exam. B-level too. Not one of the four listed IB Language exams but according to you guys I’m exempt anyway :).
