There is a check/tickbox that asks whether or not the student is taking the IB Diploma.
Does this mean that they prefer students who are in the IB Diploma?
If not, why would they ask?
I wonder if those taking AP are at a slight disadvantage if Common App universities place IBers in a different and more positive light? :S

bump…

It’s probably because you can take IB classes without doing the diploma. It’s harder to go for the diploma than to just take classes.

I seriously doubt it is concerned with advantages over AP.

Really? I didn’t see any such box… hmm…

Harmonium, I’m an IB diploma candidate and unless I’ve been lied to IB students do have an advantage in admissions, especially in certain parts of the country. Many colleges I have contacted have said that they automatically assuume an IB diploma candidate is taking the hardest possible schedule.

I hope this helps.

What common app are you using? My common app NEVER had a box for the IB Diploma…

that’s strange…the normal one I’m sure.
it’s just a tickbox above a question that says “does your school limit the # of APs that students can take?” or something like that

I think it’s on the counselor recommendation part of the CA.
