i am a freshman this year.I took honors biology this year and lets say i barely passed.........i passed last semester with a 70 average.whihc means 1 point away from failing.this semester im doing alot better.with 80 and above averages. so im passing comfortably. i am transfering to an IB school next year and doing the IB diploma program in 11th and 12th grade.ust about 2 weeks ago i really seriosu interest to be a doctor sparked in me.so i was just wondering if IB HL biology would look good to colleges, and if it would be useful towards becoming a doctor.the reason i did horribly last semester and i didnt understand the material was because i just didnt pay attention.i know that if i bust ass in IB bio then i would do well

being a doctor isn't all about taking IB HL Bio (i hear it's pretty hard)
showing passion would look even better to colleges, if they see you doing lots of research or if you start your own biology club etc...
it would be more impressive
i'm glad you're motivated though, if you get good grades in ib bio, then sure, it'll help

tyahnk you,so what do you mean by doing research? im interested, but how can i show colleges what i reasearch?

i'd say IB Bio HL and IB Chem HL would go a long way to helping you gain some footing in a pre-med or biology major...

but as adamonkey2 said, your academics is just one factor (but nevertheless an important one) in university admissions.... so also try to show commitment in your extra-curriculars as well =)

adamonkey2 means scientific research.

contact some professors at your local university telling them you're looking to help out in their lab.

Also, there are some great summer programs where you can get involved with research. I don't know where you live, but NIH and NASA have big ones. When you're older, there is also RSI @ MIT and Cornell's nanobiotechnology internship.
