Ibooks??

do you get wireless networking with an ibook?? im not sure if im putting this correctly but does this labtop already contain the capabilities to get internet wirelessly around campus..

Yes, Ibooks have built-in wireless capabalities. It has the Airport Extreme which makes it possible.

i am having similar problems, does anyone know?

Almost all new laptops nowadays have built-in WiFi to connect wirelessly.

And Apple's way of doing this is with the Airport Extreme card which is included with all new iBooks. :)

yep, i'm on my ibook using wireless internet right now. if you in an area that has wireless internet, or if you have an airport, your ibook will automatically inform you that a network is available, and will ask if you would like to join the network. also, in the top right corner of your screen, the signal strength of the network will appear, much like on a cell phone.

ok quick question. what do you think is the best labtop for me?? im going to be a freshman next year and im most likely not going to carry my labtop from place to place. Im only going to need it for homework and not for things like video games. Should I get a 14 inch Ibook, a dell latitude, or an hp labtop?? im leaning toward the Ibook. what do you guys think??

the ibook comes wifi ready but some have to purchase the 99.99 wireless network card.

Stanmaster, it depends on you major, i'd suggest the ibook (i have the 12") only because its good for visual arts, and it does what i need to do, i use Microsoft Programs and such on it but some websites and things aren't always compatabile with the Mac, but i love my mac.. P.S. its spelled LAPTOP.. :)

i'd get the ibook just because it doesnt get viruses too often. my family has bought macs since before I was born and there are currently 4 ibook laptops in my house, and no computer we have ever owned has gotten a virus. none of my friends with pc's can boast this. you will likely only use your computer to type, surf the net, and download things like music, etc. macs can do this just as well, and much more safely than a computer with windows

Actually, there are currently no viruses affecting Mac OS X :)

My D has had a 15"ibook for two years, her first two years of college. So many of her friends have had problems with their computers - not her. Never a problem. No virus, no pop-ups, no problems whatsoever.
She uses it constantly -even for music and movies. My son has had his 12" for three years - did have one service when a friend borrowed it and managed to mess up one of the ports, but it was under warranty, so no problem.
If you do get one, I'd suggest going with the warranty. It may seem like a waste of money, but their service is wonderful, and you'll know that you'll be covered for for 3 years for just about anything that might come up.

hmmm this might be a stupid question but i noticed that apple only has one mouse click. with only one click, and no right click like pc's, how do you copy and paste??

Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v

Ctrl-click does the same job as a right click on a Mac. Plus lots of PC mice are supported on a Mac, right-clicking and all.

how much memory is good. im going to be a history major. is 256 mb enough or should i get 512???

I'll assume you're talking about RAM...

If you're going to have a lot of windows open, then go with 512.

I would peisonally go with 512, just so it doens't slow down.

512 or you'll be pulling your hair out

ok thanks guys.

command (apple key) C or Command (apple key) V, also for right click ctrl click..

you will probobly want an external mouse for desk use (just plug it in) since its easier. Just buy a normal mouse instead of an apple mouse, they have more buttons and a scroll wheel and they work right away in OSX without changing any settings.
