Looking for a artsy, healthy, beautiful, outdoorsy school!

I dont know, I'm a free spirit who doesnt really want to go through anymore academic burnout and the party scene is just not that appealing. I want to feel a passion and zest for learning. I really disliked learning in highschool and never did my work. I am interested in creative writing, art, dance, theater, and the outdoors. any suggestions on schools that are chill and approach learning in a exciting manner? anything is greatly appreciated!!!!!

More information would be helpful.
Are you a senior?
How are your grades and test scores? Do you know your class rank?
What state are you in? How far are you willing to travel?
How much can your family afford?

Many schools might meet your criteria but they span a range of locations, size, selectivity and other features.

Depending on you qualifications and preferences, the following schools might interest you:

Hampshire
Bennington
College of the Atlantic
Evergreen State
Guilford
Warren Wilson
St. Mary’s College of MD
University of Vermont
UC Santa Cruz

I would add Bard, New College of Florida, and Sarah Lawrence to the list of suggestions above. Maybe Skidmore, Vassar, Muhlenburg, and Connecticut College as well.

Many of the schools suggested so far provide narrative evaluations rather than traditional grades, which may appeal to you.

EDIT: Erin’s Dad has a point. Grades will be very important for these schools, especially since some of them are test-optional.

Based on that statement I would expect your grades to be low and I’m not sure the schools listed would take a flyer on you. You might have to consider attending a CC where you can show your ability to focus on school and then transfer. And then there is the cost question posed above. What can you afford?

Hartwick College. Easy admissions standards. Beautiful campus in upstate NY. Has environmental campus close to the main campus where you can dorm in cabins and such. I think you should check it out.

Even if you were bad at studies in high school but can express yourself clearly, then Hampshire is the best option!

For the outdoorsy part, you might consider Prescott College in Arizona.

Are you sure you even want to go to school right now? When the passion for learning hits you, you’ll know it. There’s nothing wrong with taking a few years to find your path.

St. John’s College(MD and NM)
