[/RESUME]

Okay, so as you can hopefully all tell, I love music. However, I want to go into engineering. For these two reasons, it stands to follow that I’m looking at engineering schools with a strong arts presence and where I think I’d have time to be part of music groups as well while I’m there. I plan on sending in an audition tape with my application, and I’m hoping that my skills in that category will overshadow my mediocre math scores compared with all the 800-kiddies applying. (As another weak point, 3 out of the 4 B’s I’ve received have been in my math classes, they were all honors though) I think that my EC’s/Leadership are fairly strong, with an internship with a Congressman, starting my own business, raising $30,000 for medical research, and being President of a bunch of groups that I’m ranked first in. However, I think some engineering schools may wonder why I don’t have many activities geared towards engineering..

My top choices at this point are Cornell and Lehigh, and to some extent Princeton (but it’s a little close to home so I’m not sure). For safe schools I have PennState, but preferably I’d want a smaller school than 42,000. I want a strong engineering program, but I want to have fun too, and at a place where they’d actually value my musical contributions both in the admissions process and on campus. Help me :)

Oh yeah, and preferably in the northeast.

Bucknell? I hear their a capella groups are quite popular.

Yeah that's another place I'm considering, good guess! I'm a drummer though, so I'd prefer strong but accessible jazz bands or just a general musical student body.

Also can anybody with experience guess what my chances are at places like cornell/lehigh/princeton? I've had widely varied responses.

Look at Oberlin.
