If an international student studies Law in the US...

I live in Canada and my dream has always been to go to NYU and study Law. I don't want to be a lawyer here in Quebec and would live in the US if I got into NYU. I was told that a year after an international student completes their university studies, they must go back to their original country unless they are to obtain a green card. It's not for sure that international students will obtain green cards, so for someone like me who lives in Canada, if I have to go back to Canada, I'll have to go back to school and learn the Canadian laws. I'm not very passionate about going to University in Canada so I really want to go to NYU and would do anything to make it work. Althought I'm only in the 10th grade, I've calculated my GPA and according to this site http://www.pennybissett.com/Counsellortools/grade_conversion_guide06.pdf
with my 86% average, I've obtained a 3.7 GPA which is perfect since that is the average GPA of an NYU student.
Is it really a huge gamble for me to go to NYU?

Wait, didn't you just say you were in 10th grade? Law school is after undergraduate, unless you were referring to pre-law, which doesn't count as a degree, you will need to go law school after doing pre-law. It's different in Canda or the UK where you do law for 5 years, over here in the U.S you need to complete 4 years of undergraduate study before you go onto Law School (Graduate study).

Also, about you working in the U.S, don't count on it entirely, as it has been stated in this forum a number of times. To assume you will get a job after graduating from a U.S university isn't a great idea. You will need a backup plan, not to say you shouldn't try. Try by all means, but the chances of getting a job in the U.S especially since we will be facing a recession for many years to come, as an international student is slim to none. NYU is a great school, but expensive, if you can afford it why not?
