if i cant get into these where should i apply?

I have a 3.7 GPA in criminal justice
most likely will obtain a GRE score between 1150-1300
president of a fraternity with various other positions
affiliated with 2 other organizations
3 months interning for a big city police agency
lots of community service
3 well written letters of recomendations

Do I have a chance for getting accepted to a masters program in public admin. or public affairs to:
columbia
UC berkley
carnegie mellon
columbia
cornell
harvard
washington
new york university
University of Texas
if not, any recomendations on where i should apply?

What is your undergrad school? It sounds like to me you would make a very strong candidate, for any of those.

texas state. not that prestigious haha. But we have won some regional awards from princeton review

That projected GRE score sure has some variance to it!

Well i can see you still going to those schools considering the experience you have. Kick the GRE’s ass and that will make you very solid. Ask those admissions departments (and it may be available on their websites) what their incoming students have looked like in recent years (where they are from, gpas, experience, gres, etc.)…

i know, my practice GRE scores have a pretty big range. but ill be taking the kaplan gre course in june and hopefully i will be able to consistently hit the 1300s.

are there any recomendations if you think these schools are way out of the reach for me?

harvard and the other big schools are a long shot. To get into these programs you need to have professional experience (generally 2-3 years). But usually prestigious jobs that show you are successful, prepared, etc. For the lower-tier schools, I’m less certain.
