Aah to be a teenager and to be so convinced that Mom and Dad are wrong. Maybe they object to their D putting her own interests and needs and plans aside to be with a charismatic but controlling BF? Maybe they object to having a brat decide that the sacrifices they’ve made for her education aren’t nearly as compelling as the thrill of a new relationship?

I don’t think patronizing OP accomplishes anything. We answered her question: no, you are not considered independent for financial aid purposes if you pay for college (or even every expense in your life – taxes, sure, but not financial aid).
