If this were you, which SOMs would be on your list?

This may be true, but the Amgen Scholars application makes it clear that the program is intended for those with “an interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D. /Ph.D.”

Anyone can change their mind, but I would hope students would respect the program’s raison d’

According to this:

[Amgen Scholars](http://www.amgenscholars.com/about_amgen_scholars/program_alumni/)

125 Amgen Scholars alumni are pursuing a science professional degree (MD, DO, OD, DDS, etc.) without a combined PhD. So I guess the program “tolerates” alumni who don’t pursue a PhD or PhD/MD.

IDK. Shrugs

The program also “tolerates” alumni who do TFA, join the Peace Corps, go to work in industry immediately after graduation, and take grad fellowships in other fields… so what?

No, my son isn’t Amgen (I don’t even know that that is…lol).

He has done REUs, if that matters. And, his PI is doing a LOR.

Now, we’re waiting on his MCAT scores…I think he gets them a week from today! fingers crossed!!!

Wishing him good news!

Ok…we’re on pins and needles now…scores are supposed to get released tomorrow.

Wishing him the best!

Wishing the best!
BTW "if he were lucky enough to have 2-3+ acceptances and then have to choose, he’d probably go with location (not be too far away), cost (avoid those $80k per year COAs), facilities, etc. " - this is how my D. was choosing. She actually did not apply at all to far away schools. She has applied to wide range though and had choices of 2 publics and 2 privates, all close by, ended up choosing the closest one. She was checking the programs though and students at each of her choices, but at the end was choosing between 2 privates. Programs are slightly different and student body is also slightly different from school to school.
