Yes, just accept your spot on the waitlist and then forget about it. Pay your deposit at your top school that you actually did get into, and don’t keep your hopes up for getting off the waitlist because you don’t want to look forward to it for months and then be let down. Better to have it be a pleasant surprise than a devastating letdown
