<p>I am sure it will be streaming on Netflix or amazon at some point in time. Not sure how long the delay is though. I know I got sucked into watching the first couple seasons of Newsroom originally shown on HBO. Then when the current season finished, it was never released on Amazon or Netflix or DVD. I gave up several month ago looking for it. :(</p>
<p>I think the new book is okay too. Although she could dial back on the grandparent hottie sex at this point in my opinion. With regard to the series, the actors are not as I pictured the characters, but then they never are. ā¦I still canst accept Emma Watson as Hermoine Granger ;)</p>

<p>I found the Jamie actor to be quite appealing. 
Heās not as tall as described in the book, though, which takes a little bit away from him, I think, and where are Claireās golden eyes?</p>
<p>Criticism aside, I really want to see the series. Got to figure out a way!</p>
<p>My DH and I are enjoying the series on Starz. I am currently reading one of the books (maybe the 4th or 5th one??I read it on Kindle, so donāt always remember the nameā¦) and I really like it. I think as the characters age there is much less focus on the āsteamyā sex. </p>
<p>I was thinking that the series might be panned by the critics, but to the contrary I have read several very positive reviews, particularly pointing out the fact that YES there are āsex scenesāā¦but itās unusual and notable there is a very strong female protagonist who is most definitely not portrayed as a victim. The articles I read compared the Outlander TV series to Game of Thrones (on HBO) which, as any viewer will tell you, has a LOT of sex and nudityā¦.almost always from the perspective of men being in control. <p>The other thing I really love about this series is the music by Bear McCreary. This guy is such a genius and I love reading his blog, in which he breaks down each episode scene by scene, describing why and how he scored the particular scene, even often showing musical notation for the particular themes he has used as well as the instrumentation chosen. I first found him while watching Battlestar Galactica and found his blog for that series to be beyond amazing. Just do a google search for his name and you will easily find his website and blog if you are interested. </p>
<p>I found out that my cable company does indeed offer starz, but as Iām on a major driving road trip coming back from the east to Texas (1200 mile drive by myself), I ordered it online, then watched the first two episodes on my laptop. I am now in Little Rock for the night, and plan to watch more tonight. </p>
<p>So far, they seem to be very well done and true to the book. :)</p>
<p>Another thought-I wonder how the critics will react to theā¦uhā¦darker themes which weave throughout the series. I wonder if those themes will in fact remain true to the book.</p>
<p>I do love how strong Claire is throughout the book series - not perfect, sometimes pigheaded, wrong, occasionally petty - but always strong. Sheās one of my favorite fictional characters.</p>
<p>I donāt find the TV person as strong as Iād like. I guess I pictured a younger G. Margulies for the part.</p>
<p>^ Me too bookworm. The Claire actress is a little too prim and proper looking I think. </p>
<p>Personally I think Game of Thrones is terrible. It reminds me of the cheesy double features we went to as kids. I tried but gave up after 4 or 5 episodes. This is far more interesting. </p>
<p>The Geillis Duncan character is good and I agree they are being fairly faithful to the first book so far which is nice. </p>
<p>Snowdog, yes, I agree. I just wish Claire and Jaimie characters had more charisma.</p>
<p>I, too, had pictured Julianna Marguilles as I read the books! </p>
<p>She is the epitome of a beautiful, erotic, smart actress. </p>
<p>I am enjoying hearing the gaelic actually spokenā¦never have heard the audiobooks, which would be great for that reason. </p>
<p>With that in mind, I found a nifty website where someone whose husband is actually a Scottish Highlander did recordings of various phrases used a lot in the books. It was pretty great. I think itās against TOS to link to it here, but for real if you just search for āgaelic pronunciation in Outlanderā, you will find it. :)</p>
<p>Some fictional characters are just so compelling, thereās no way to satisfy all the readers when it is translated to film. No matter WHO they cast, there would be someone on here complaining about it.</p>
<p>Exception might be Vivien Leigh. She really looked very much like the description of Scarlett in the novel, with her cat shaped vivid green eyes and incredible spirit. Can you imagine that role played by any of the other actresses we now know were in contention for the role?</p>
<p>Are DH and I the only ones here who have trouble deciphering Jamieās words? Iāve read all the books so that helps some but still canāt catch them all. </p>

<p>If youāre having trouble understanding the Scottish accents, Iāve found that closed captioning is very helpful. </p>
<p>I found a hilarious website/blog. Search for āthings my husband says during Outlanderā. She watches each episode herself first, then watches with her chatty spouse and shares his entertaining comments.</p>
<p>Another very interesting website belongs to Terry Dresbach, who does the costumes and is married to Ron Moore, the (producer? Director?) of the show.</p>
<p>I predict it wonāt be long before you see people wearing Claireās knit neckwear!</p>
