If you are a fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

They are not long…probably just sits on the chest. Then there are some pearls that dangle from the gold pieces…quite a unique piece.

If you look at the blog that shall not be named (or linked to) that was mentioned above and is by the costume designer, there is a closeup of the pearls. Up close they are each differently shaped and have delicate gold bead thingeys between each one. It’s certainly not a detail that I get hung up on at all…

Here is a review of The Wedding which I found kind of humorous.

<a href=“Outlander Recap: The Wedding”>http://www.vulture.com/2014/09/outlander-recap-season-1-wedding-claire-jamie-do-it.html</a></p>

Cracked up when she said “There may have been some rewinding.” :)

Does anyone know when this might be available through iTunes or DVD?

I might have been willing to add Starz but we don’t have cable at all. I understand about wanting to sign up new subscribers but surely Starz wants to take my money, too.

Great recap @ Nrdsb4…thanks! I’ve been enjoying reading reviews the past few days and watching it for a 3rd time yesterday. I just loved the music during the wedding. @MathildaMae, I’m sure it will be available, even through amazon to watch specific episodes…but it’s probably too early. I imagine they might not do that until all the episodes have aired, or at least the first 8.

I don’t have Starz either. Typically dvds get reased just before the start of the new season.
At a guess, amazon might grab the streaming rights to this since it is a big hit.

I am loving Outlander! I was on this thread a while ago as BUandBC. I changed my name when the forum changed and I couldn’t register under my old name. I am a big Outlander book fan. I will echo coronax2 and recommend Terry Dresbach’s blog if you want to learn more about costuming, and listen to the podcasts if you want more behind the scenes information. In the podcasts Ron Moore sometimes gives insight as to why things were changed or left out. Conmama, I’ll wave to you at LOL!

To clarify, Ladies of Lallybroch is a voy forum…not the Facebook forum. For some reason when you type Ladies of Lallybroch, one of the things that pops up is Voy: Ladies of Lallybroch Books Board. Choose that one then you can navigate around.

Ya think? ;)

I’ve watched the show so far, love it, hadn’t read the books. So…went to the library the other day and got the first book.

<a href=“Outlander Recap: The Wedding”>http://www.vulture.com/2014/09/outlander-recap-season-1-wedding-claire-jamie-do-it.html</a></p>

^ dead on review.

Have you read the book yet? It’s pretty amazing. Show is good adaptation, but still leaves out so much. Hope you enjoy it.

April 4, 2015, episode 109 will air. Argh! Six months!!

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/09/25/outlander-to-return-april-2015/</a></p>

^^^^^That’s just completely cruel.

I am not happy with a six month break.

This is crazy. I was really looking forward to getting thru winter with Outlander and Downton. I did read at LOL it may be due to two things…they just finished filming and they need time for post production. Ok…that makes sense. Also a rumor that Starz is selling…not sure who came about with that one.

That’s interesting, conmama. It seems like they’re killing the momentum of a new show, but what do I know. And thanks for the tip about LOL. I haven’t signed up yet, but it looks like a fun board with lots of people who want to chat about my favorite books/show.

Do you have to sign up for the LOL Voy forum board? I wasn’t aware of that, I’ve forgotten. You used to be able to donate money and your screen handle would show up automatically with each post and you won’t have to go thru the encripted letters with each one. I never did that. I was reading the Compuserve forum today and someone said that that Sam said what we just saw (8 episoded) took 6 months to film and Cait said that it is like filming a movie for each one. I’m sure there are other reasons, but I don’t think 8 episodes and a 6 month wait is quite enough to hook new viewers…especially with this show…unless they decide to go read the book inbetween. It has been, although beautiful, a quite slow moving show. And now to cut it off just as it’s gaining momentum might not be the wisest idea. They should have shown all the episodes…then started cutting them in half with Season 2.

I could be wrong about signing up then. I only read posts about the Starz series and just took for granted that one had to sign up to participate. I agree with you about losing momentum with the six month hiatus for new people to the series. Goodness knows, book fans have been conditioned to think in terms of years and not months…lol

@‌ mamom
“s there any major 18th century historical figure Claire hasn’t met personally by now?..just asking).)”

Wait until you get to the latter books in the series (if they film them), she gets to meet a lot of people:)

I found myself enjoying the series the more I watched it. I have to admit I didn’t like the episode with Black Jack beating up Claire, it was a bit too dark…I liked the last one, I thought it was very intelligently filmed.

I had real concerns after watching the first episode about the chemistry, I didn’t really see it between Jaimie and Claire, but it grew, which actually works because it mirrors the theme in the book I think. So far, I have been impressed by the casting, I realize there are differences from the book, but to me that doesn’t make a big difference (maybe because I haven’t read the books in a while).

As far as the slow pace goes, well, given the rate that DG writes, it is true to form lol. I suspect the gap is Starz was cautious in committing to it, plus cable series tend to do that. There was a series on USA called “Necessary Roughness” that I liked, that was a summer series, only had a handful of episodes, was frustrating, too.

As far as when it ends, the series 1 end is at the end of book 1, I think they have announced that. As far as the mid season ending, I suspect it will be at the witch incident, would make a good break…or it could be at the stones, the first time claire goes there, too. The witch thing would be easier, since it is sooner in the book I believe, and would not be as rushed as trying to get to the stones scene in one episode. Surprised they didn’t make episode 8 a 2 hour one…

These episodes are so well done from a technical point of view as well as from a dramatic sense, I’m not surprised to hear that producing each one is like doing a movie. But I agree I would rather have waited to start them until they could give us the whole season.

Sigh…
