I didn’t apply for any summer programs because they are all really expensive. My friends are getting accepted to summer programs and I can’t help but feel regret for not applying. It’s too late to apply now. So, if I don’t do a summer program, will it affect how colleges look at my application?
Nope. Find something interesting to do with your summer near home. Programs are not the key – interested and interesting are what colleges like to see. Doing something a lot of other people aren’t doing is like catnip for admissions.
Find a job, internship, or do volunteer work locally.
Agree 100% with the two parents above (hi again, by the way! Haven’t checked into the Prep School forum in a while…)! Colleges are certainly aware that not everyone has thousands of $$$ to shell out for an expensive summer program. You can show just as much passion by getting an internship or volunteering in your field of passion around your city.
