If you got rejected/deferred...

Don't worry about it. I know it can be a blow to your ego and a big disappointment, especially if you applied ED (which means you really wanted to go to Rice). But think about this:
The early decision pool is much more competitive than the regular one, and Rice is already a very selective school. Besides, going to Rice is no guarantee of success in life; it's all about what YOU make of the school you go to. You can choose to take advantage of opportunities and work hard, and if you do so success will come to you regardless of your undergraduate institution.

Your character will not be measured by the institution you attend, but rather by the choices you make. Choose to work hard and do your best next year, and you might be able to transfer to Rice if your heart is still set on it.

So all in all, good luck to everyone - wherever you choose to go - and keep your heads up!

If I remember the stats from previous years, Rice admits a good number of candidates deferred from Early Decision. Good luck to all of you who were deferred.

I think you're right anxiousmom, and the fact that you did ED means you were definitely interested in Rice to the point that it's your first choice - the adcoms will remember that.

Work on supplementing your applications with new info if you get deferred. I think there's a major thread on how to do that on CC's main forum somewhere.

Good luck!

What are some good ways to add to my application? I'm not really sure what I can do...Any ideas?
