if you had to choose tonight

would you pick a career in nursing or teaching high school biology?

eew, I'd pick dentistry..

If I HAD to choose I'd pick nursing.. I hate high schoolers.

I want to be a teacher anyway (though biology's not my subject- I want to teach chemistry), so I'd be the biology teacher. Nursing's a good job, though, and both professions are in pretty serious need of qualified workers.

I want to teach anyway, so I'd pick a teacher, however if I wasn't so squeamish I'd definitely do nursing- they really really need nurses. Reaaallly.

ehhh hrmmm, I suppose I would choose teaching with the hopes that I could some day teach at the university level after further education.

If I was a nurse I would be depressed that I didn't just go to med school.

I'd pick the one that came closest to creating flow for me.

[Flow (psychology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology%5DFlow">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology))</p>

Which would you pick?

Nursing since I don't have to deal with the vast majority of immature high schoolers.

I prefer teaching simply because I like teaching, nothing to do with biology anyway.
It totally depends on your preference.

But I don't know which one has better money.

I adore biology and never had any inclination to be a nurse, so my choice is obvious and simple.

Teaching biology was actually something I really seriously considered before I discovered Occupational Therapy.

If you choose nursing then you will probably earn more money and have chances to do overtime and it will be easier to find a job (you can also choose to work different places and do different things). The downside to it is all the nasty things you will have to do and see. I really admire nurses because I would never want to clean bedpans or give sponge baths and they are very important to have.

If you choose to be a biology teacher, then you'd have shorter workdays and you'd have the summer off. The bad thing about this is that biology is usually a freshman class (at least it was at my school) so you will have to deal with immature people for not much money. It can be very hard to find a teaching job, but apparently it can be very rewarding to do it.

If I had to choose, I'd be a nurse because there are more opportunities, better pay, and more respect. Don't let anyone else's opinion change what you want to do, YOU will be the one doing it day after day and you need to pick something you enjoy.

Nursing (and I'm a guy)

Just do what my teacher does and read the newspaper for the whole day and let the kids go wild. He really seems like he enjoys his job.

^^^ sounds like your teacher has it right.. I know I would have killed myself if I had to go back as a teacher and teach me and my friends in high school.

My d is in Nursing school right now and was influenced by her 9th grade Geography teacher. He was a great teacher but he used to tell his class that his wife made more money than he did by working just 2 weekend shifts a month as a nurse and she had better medical benefits than he did.
She was also influenced by Habitat and mission trips overseas - she wanted a skill that she could bring that could really help people in a practical way.
