If you have taken World History already...

word has it the essay has a likelihood of being based upon trans-saharan trade.

^^Gah… well I’m cramming for the things I’m not sure about. If they’re on migration like my teacher thinks, I’m alright for that since we went over it a lot and I can look at the powerpoints she sent us. I desperately need to go over trade and earlier civilizations in general…

If you can throw in “hegemony” to your essay, it’s kind of good too, but only if it applies >_>

^OMG so true. I learned the meaning of the word “Hegemony” the year I took AP World History.

^^I put both hegemony (the meaning of which I learned in 9th grade reading the Master and Margarita) and suzerainty (the meaning of which I learned over spring break during a 4 AM convo with my amazing sister) into my most recent in class AP English essay. It was peer reviewed and my peer reviewers wrote “Your words are too big and your sentences are too long” and refused to give me a grade :(.

I heard that writing a good thesis for the essays can have a huge impact on your grade, even if you end up BS’ing most of the actual essay. Does anyone have any suggestions on writing a good thesis?

Honestly, I’m not that great of an English writer but for the histories (WHAP and APUSH), I’ve gotten 5s and my thesis statements are always run-on sentences usually with semi-colons to move from point to point. My theses are specific but not to the point where I don’t have anything to write about in my body paragraphs

does anyone know where i can find a past mc?
preferably 2007?
or even a PR mc that somehow ended up online. cos i have barrons and the PTs suck.
good luck all!

what are PTs? I’ve got Barrons too, how accurate would you say their model tests are?

In the end, I read the PR study guide twice and I got a 5. It’s the review that refreshes your mind of all the trends in certain periods that does the trick.

I also practiced a TON of the past FRQ’s. If you wanted to practice it some, CollegeBoard would be ideal…before you go to sleep or in the morning before you go.

Good luck. Keep calm; you’ll do fine :)

oh practice tests lol :stuck_out_tongue:
sorry for made-up abbreviations.
we took the 2002 in school and i thought it was nothng like the barrons but very similar to the PR.
so i dunno.

I bought the 5 Steps For a 5 book in September.
I opened the 5 Steps For a 5 book in May, the morning of the test.
I made a 3. I’m retaking it next year (my senior year).

I got a 50/70 on the MC portion of the 2002 World History release exam. Do you think this is a good indication that I will do good tomorrow?

@Ronaldofan94 i think so!

i’m pretty sure that they dont read your entire essay. they focus on your thesis, read your into, skim the body, and read the conclusion. anyways, im going to to horrible on the MC.

A thesis is VITAL. It should be at the beginning of your essay and/or the end (as a conclusion). Tips to make a perfect thesis: Include WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY. That’s it.

Without a thesis, you won’t get the thesis point (there is a whole point given just for a thesis); also, without the thesis point, you won’t be able to move into the expanded core (bonus 1-2 points) for a maximum of 8 or 9, meaning the max you can achieve is only 6.
